John 9:1-25
One of the key ingredients to living a story worth telling is taking steps of faith and inviting people to church. What if the story you tell this year is about a friend or coworker who got saved and baptized?
Is there someone you’ve been wanting to invite to church? Is there something holding you back from asking them? If so, let the passage you just read in John 9 encourage you.
In the story, Jesus heals a blind man. However, He healed the man on the Sabbath, which was against the rules in those days. When the Pharisees (the religious leaders) found out about it, they investigated, questioning the man who was healed. The man responded, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!" (John 9:25).
The man wasn't worried about having all the right answers for the religious leaders. Instead, he was way more interested in talking about the power of God. All this man knew was that Jesus changed the trajectory of his life, and now, he wanted everyone to know about it.
At Red Rocks Church, we are passionate about helping people experience God. That’s why we put so much work into making our weekend experience an enjoyable, relatable, and powerful time.
One of the easiest ways to make disciples is to invite a friend or family member to come with you to church. If you have to bribe them with breakfast before or lunch after, do it. If they need a ride, offer to pick them up. Just get them to church and then start praying that God would speak to them in a profound way!
Inviting someone to church can be scary, but God promises to comfort us as we go. Few things allow you to experience the presence of God more.
Who is one person you’d like to invite to church? Take a moment and send them a text. In the text, thank them for being such a good friend, tell them how much you care about them, and invite them to attend church with you this weekend.
Prayer
Father, thank you for ________. As they receive this text from me, I pray they will feel how much I love them and appreciate them. I also pray that they would feel safe and open to the invitation to join me at church. Continue to open up opportunities for us to have real life-giving conversations about you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
